Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan to Inaugurate e-Maharashtra Summit


  • Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Prithviraj Chavan will inaugurate the e-Maharashtra 2012 – State e-Governance Summit, at a function in Mumbai on 27 April 2012. The one day summit will put spotlight on the ICT (Information & Communication Technologies) initiatives and efforts to brawl with the digital divide in the state of Maharashtra.

    The summit planned at Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan, Nariman Point will provide a platform for high-level policy makers, practitioners, solution providers, thought leaders, academicians from across the state to deliberate on regional best practices, issues and challenges in the ICT initiatives while exploring new avenues for ICT applications in the state. The summit will also host an expo with copious range of exhibits featuring innovative ICT based products and solutions. It will recognise excellence in adopting technology for governance and education through the eMaharashtra Awards and has invited state nominations from all state government bodies, civil society and development agencies and enterprises working in Maharashtra who have transformed social development opportunities into a sustainable social enterprise through innovative use of ICTs.

    Along with the Hon’able Chief Minister,Shri Prithviraj Chavan, the Summit will also see participation of some eminent leaders including Prof Fauzia Tehseen Khan, Minister of State for General Administration, School Education, Women and Child Development, Public Health and Family Welfare, Rajesh Aggarwal, Secretary, Department of Information Technology, Dr K Shivaji, Principal Secretary, Department of Industries, Government of Maharashra, Dr. Ajay Bhushan Pandey, Unique Identification Authority of India, Neela Satyanarayana, State Election Commissioner, Shri Vivek Sawant, MD, Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL), and Commissioners of different Municipal Corporations.

    While extending an open invitation to people in concern in the state of Maharashtra, Dr Ravi Gupta, the Convener of e-Maharashtra summit says, “It is encouraging to have Hon’ Chief Minister Shri Prithiraj Chavan to inaugurate eMaharashtra Summit that aims for active knowledge sharing, showcasing and finding out ways and means on how ICTs can have an enriching and socially relevant role in society.
